Website FSC sales - look for the ID code!

Tue 7 Aug 2007

There has been a huge growth in consumer internet sales sites and at the height of the garden furniture season, there are many using the FSC logo and name to promote their garden furniture - or perhaps what they are claiming is FSC furniture, but maybe without a code number to show that it is genuine. They may not realise that they need permission from FSC before using our logo or name. A retailer ID code looks like this: FSC-GBR-123. If you see products advertised on retail websites without an ID code (or, if it's a manufacturer or wholesaler, a Chain of Custody number like this: AB-COC-1234) then please check with us before buying.

When you're buying from a website you don't get the chance to see the FSC label on the product or its box, but authorised logo users have had all their FSC products verified by us and must follow the rules for using our trademarks.

If you are selling FSC products on line, please contact us for a Trademark Resource Pack so we can help you use the FSC logo and name correctly. We'll also list you on our Product Search to give your customers extra assurance that they can buy FSC products from you knowing that they are supporting responsible forestry around the world.
