Photographic Competition
The Forest Stewardship Council UK (FSC UK) Working Group has announced the winners of its national photographic competition. FSC UK asked for original images of FSC certified forests or FSC products. The winning entries will be used to promote the work of FSC and to encourage consumers to look for the tick tree logo.
First prize was awarded to Neil Attard, from Reading, for his photograph of bluebells in Micheldever Woods (right). Rosie Teasdale, FSC UK’s Marketing Officer said “This image of bluebells is a reminder of the natural beauty of British forests and
woodlands. It is not only the tropical rainforests that need our protection, it is vitally important that we manage our own forests responsibly too. I hope that Neil’s image will help us to raise awareness of the FSC’s work, both in the UK and across the globe, to protect the world’s forests.” Neil Attard will receive an FSC-certified Sorrento Garden Furniture set, donated by Marks and Spencer.
Greg Szabo, from Lancaster, won second prize (£150 B&Q vouchers) for his atmospheric image of the sun shining through Forestry Commission land in the Lake District (left).
Third prize (£100 B&Q vouchers) was awarded to Chris Tracey, from Stroud, for her stunning pictures of a Pearl-bordered Fritillary butterfly in Hailey Wood near
Cirencester (below).
FSC-certified barbeques from Homebase were awarded to Mr Hardstaff, from Lincolnshire, and Sue Moorhouse from Northumberland. Peter D’Aguilar and Viv Hawkey, both from Kent, received gift vouchers for Focus DIY. Five runners up received a copy of “Saving Planet Earth” by Tony Juniper, donated by Harper Collins.
“We would like to thank all those who entered the competition and to Marks and Spencer, B&Q, Homebase, FOCUS and HarperCollins for donating prizes. We would also like to offer our congratulations to the winners.
