Quality Austria’s FSC Accreditation Suspended
Accreditation Services International (ASI) has suspended certification body Quality Austria from issuing FSC chain of custody (CoC) certificates worldwide. The decision took effect on 29 May 2016.
Since this date, Quality Austria has not been permitted to sign new certification contracts, perform initial certification audits, or issue new FSC CoC certificates. The suspension is a result of non-conformities with the ASI accreditation procedure.
Quality Austria is accredited for CoC certification only, and has issued about 60 valid FSC CoC certificates. Certificates issued by Quality Austria remain valid during the suspension. Quality Austria can continue to perform FSC surveillance and re-certification audits.
Suspensions can be enforced for a maximum of six months. If the accreditation is not reinstated within six months, Quality Austria’s clients will need to seek a new FSC-accredited certification body in order for their FSC certificate to remain valid.
This suspension reinforces FSC expectations that our standards will be rigorously audited, and that our accreditation body, ASI, oversees certification bodies strictly.
