Revised Guidance for Complaints Panels Published

FSC has published a revised version of its Guidance for panels evaluating complaints under the Policy for Association (FSC-POL-01-004).

The Guidance is designed to support nominated Complaints Panel members to efficiently and consistently evaluate a complaint and provides Complaints Panels (the Complaints Panel is a committee established by the Director of FSC A.C. and its purpose is to evaluate and decide on formal complaints) with more comprehensive guidelines and tools that were developed based on the experience of past evaluations.

The revised version defines the FSC standard of certainty, the degree of certainty applied to determine whether an allegation is defensible or not, and provides more guidance on the verification of evidence and the scope of the evaluations. The document also includes templates for writing evaluation reports.

The Guidance complements the FSC procedure for processing formal complaints (FSC-PRO-01-009) by providing evaluation criteria and detailed information on applying the procedure.
