Small Woods Project update – why make one standard when you can make two?

During that time, despite the difficulties of coordinating face-to-face meetings, the Standards Development Group (SDG) has continued its discussions and has made a lot of progress towards a draft standard. There was a hiatus over the summer holidays, and we took the opportunity for a period of reflection, holding a Steering Group meeting to review the rate of progress and direction of travel. Since that meeting, the next steps have been agreed with the SDG, and we now have some significant developments to share with you. read more …

Where can I find an FSC-certified Christmas tree?

FSC certified Christmas trees are available from many Forestry Commission sites. – The Forestry Commission was the first state forestry organisation in the world to achieve FSC forest management certification. Many FSC certified products are also available from their online shop. FSC-N002123FSC-certified Christmas trees are available in the UK. FSC trees are grown as part of a well-managed forest, minimising the use of pesticides and protecting forest plants and animals. Consultation: Forest Management Group Standard

The FSC standard for forest management groups (FSC-STD-30-005) is currently being revised. The technical working group in charge of the revision had two in-person meetings before finalising the first draft.
