Propyzamide Derogation Consultation
Public Consultation Exercise by the Certification Bodies on behalf of FSC certificate holders in the UK.
The UKWAS Steering Group is facilitating a consultation by the UK certification bodies, Control Union, SGS Qualifor and Soil Association Woodmark, on behalf of FSC certificate holders.
The consultation concerns proposals for renewing derogations from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) so as to permit the use of Propyzamide which is legal to use in the UK but is classed as ‘highly hazardous’ by FSC so can only be used in FSC-certified woodlands if there are no practicable alternatives.
Propyzamide is considered by its users to be necessary for control of grass in forest plantations in the UK for which there is currently a derogation allowing its use but which will expire in May 2015.
How can I find out more?
Draft derogation application is downloadable below and also available for download here: www.ukwas.org.uk/documents
