Registry open for the 2018 Indonesian International Wood Trade Encounter
Connecting producers of FSC®-certified Indonesian forest products with interested parties. The Association of Indonesian Forest Concessionaires’ International Wood Trade Encounter will be held in Jakarta from March 6 to 10, 2018.
The encounter offers the chance to meet producers of FSC-certified plywood, flooring, decking, mouldings, garden furniture and much more, all in one location.
What’s at the Encounter?
The event will feature a trade fair, with a variety of booths showing off the best of Indonesian forestry.
There will also be factory visits to Interkayu Nusantara wood working factory (Jakarta area) and Kayu Lapis (Semarang). This will provide the opportunity to see the inner workings of FSC-certified handling and manufacturing systems.
For the more intrepid, there will also be a forest excursion to Kalimantan in Borneo, along with an overnight stay.
Meetings will be held throughout the event, including round table meetings with representatives from both US and EU markets.
The Borneo Initiative
The Borneo Initiative was established in 2008, with the aim of preventing the loss of tropical forests to deforestation or over-exploitation. With the target of 4 million hectares of Indonesian forest being certified by the end of 2018, the Initiative has already seen a current total of 2,661,281ha reached.
The Trade Encounter is the perfect place to expand and develop markets for forest products originating from forests certified under the Borneo Initiative. For more on the Borneo Initiative, the 2018 International Wood Trade Encounter and registering for the event, visit the website.
